Me and the Mundane August 17, 2008

Whenever I pass my exit on the highway at night, driving further away from the city, I kinda can’t help but feel that I’m driving off into some vast expanse of open American road, populated with things like big old light-up diner signs that say “EAT” (no doubt relying on the power of suggestion to attract customers), and eerie glowing red crosses that seem to float in air, and fluorescent gas station mirages on the side of the road.

Miles of lonely road lined with the mundane starts to make me feel as if there’s a gap between me and all that mundanity…

Silly humans.

Silly, wonderful, fanciful, humans.
